Innovations in sequencing technology are transforming genomics research. MGI launched the T7+ high-throughput sequencer capable of generating over 14Tb of data per day, enabling large-scale genomics with reduced complexity and cost. Researchers employing terabase-scale long-read sequencing have mapped previously inaccessible soil microbial genomes, uncovering hundreds of new bacteria and identifying novel antibiotic candidates. Additional studies apply these techniques to complete centromere sequencing in human cell lines, filling major genomic gaps and facilitating precision medicine advances.
