SonoThera raised $125 million in an oversubscribed Series B to advance ultrasound-mediated genetic medicines. The financing was led by Vida Ventures and includes investors such as ARK Invest, Otsuka Pharmaceutical, UCB Ventures, and Vertex Ventures HC. The company plans to push lead programs in Duchenne muscular dystrophy and autosomal dominant polycystic kidney disease into further clinic work, while expanding a pipeline that uses ultrasound delivery (RIPPLE) and payload engineering (PORE) for DNA/RNA therapeutics, gene editing, and gene silencing. SonoThera says its platform targets common gene-therapy bottlenecks including delivery constraints, immune responses, and the need for safe redosing—aiming to broaden the diseases addressable by genetic medicine.
