AnaCardio raised €62.5 million ($70.5 million) in a Series B round to advance its oral therapy AC01 into Phase IIb and toward Phase III readiness. The company described AC01 as a calcium-sensitizing contractile agent—originally in-licensed from Helsinn—that targets chronic advanced heart failure with reduced ejection fraction (HFrEF). AnaCardio said it will use the funding to fully support progression of the program after encouraging Phase Ib/IIa results published in The Lancet, with scientific advice received from both the FDA and EMA. The company’s goal is to evaluate AC01 in a larger Phase IIb population to build the evidence base needed for late-stage development. The financing was co-led by Novo Holdings and the Ljungström family office, with participation from a consortium including Helsinn and existing investors such as Pureos Bioventures. The round emphasizes how investors continue to support oral, differentiated mechanisms in congestive heart failure amid persistent unmet need.
