Incyte agreed to acquire Vega Therapeutics for up to $2 billion, adding VGA039, a Phase III monoclonal antibody candidate in von Willebrand disease. The deal is designed to bolster Incyte’s hematology franchise with a potential new prophylactic option aimed at reducing bleeding episodes and treatment burden. VGA039 is being studied in the VIVID-6 phase 3 trial, described as a global single-arm crossover design evaluating once-monthly subcutaneous prophylaxis across VWD types. Incyte said the asset fits its growth strategy as a first-in-class, Phase III program with a development path it views as manageable. The transaction is also framed against Incyte’s longer-term portfolio goals as it anticipates building revenue drivers beyond existing franchise assets, with estimated Phase III readouts expected around early 2029.
