Deep Science Ventures and Medicine Discovery Catapult launched a partnership aimed at overcoming one of the field’s central bottlenecks—delivering medicines across the blood-brain barrier. The program will conduct an initial review of the current medicines landscape and identify gaps in brain-entry technologies before moving toward pre-seed venture creation. The initiative explicitly targets neurological conditions, positioning the next steps around unmet needs across Alzheimer’s, Parkinson’s, and other CNS disorders. In addition to technology and investment criteria, the partnership model is designed to turn identified opportunities into spinouts. DSV’s venture-building approach will be combined with MDC’s drug discovery capabilities, with the intent of producing novel approaches capable of being validated and funded for development. The collaboration matters because CNS drug development continues to suffer from translational failures when brain delivery is insufficient, making early “entry” assessment a potential lever for reducing late-stage attrition.
