Moonwalk Biosciences secured $70 million in Series B financing to advance MW101, its adipose-targeted siRNA obesity candidate, into IND-enabling work toward first-in-human trials. The company said the funds will support completing IND-enabling studies and initiating first-in-human development in late 2027, while also expanding its siRNA pipeline targeting multiple adipose biology pathways. Moonwalk’s approach is designed to modulate fat directly rather than suppress appetite, aiming to preserve lean mass in addition to reducing fat. Investors included Alpha Wave Ventures and YK Bioventures, with Eli Lilly participating alongside other existing and new backers. The financing also follows the company’s earlier seed round focused on target discovery and adipose omics validation. If the program translates clinically, it would broaden the obesity drug landscape beyond incretin dominance by adding an RNAi modality centered on adipose tissue target engagement.
