Recent collaborations and studies highlight breakthroughs in leveraging microbiome and molecular biology for precision diagnostics. The Vienna BioCenter and University of Ghana developed an open-source lyophilized RT-LAMP assay enabling affordable, rapid pathogen detection suitable for resource-limited settings, achieving sensitivity and specificity comparable to RT-qPCR. Meanwhile, Circular Genomics and Washington University identified a circRNA biomarker signature, including circHOMER1, linked to Alzheimer’s disease prediction and progression. Additionally, Viome and Scripps Research initiated a clinical study focused on at-home RNA-based screening for precancerous colon polyps, aiming to provide non-invasive early detection of colorectal cancer risk.
