Nine additional drugmakers joined the White House’s most-favored-nation (MFN) pricing initiative for Medicaid, bringing participating companies to 26 and covering 89% of the branded drug market. The new agreements include Alcon, Astellas Pharma, BeOne Medicines, BridgeBio, CSL, Kyowa Kirin, Sun Pharma, Teva, and UCB. The deals span medications across hemophilia, Parkinson’s disease, macular degeneration, glaucoma, liver disease, skin conditions, and several cancers, with pledges intended to align U.S. prices to those available in peer countries. In return, companies committed to invest at least $19.6 billion collectively in U.S. manufacturing facilities. The expanded participation also includes donations of active pharmaceutical ingredients to the Strategic Active Pharmaceutical Ingredients Reserve, tying pricing concessions to onshoring and supply security objectives.
