ICER said AstraZeneca’s newly approved hypertension drug Baxfendy does not meet its cost-effectiveness threshold at current list pricing, according to a draft report. ICER modeled Baxfendy at a wholesale acquisition cost of $900 for 30 tablets, concluding that incremental cost-effectiveness ratios were above commonly used thresholds. ICER also used a placeholder price to assess Mineralys Therapeutics’ aldosterone synthase inhibitor lorundrostat, arriving at a similar conclusion. While acknowledging promising blood pressure effects from Phase 3 data, ICER flagged uncertainties about long-term outcomes and subgroup performance, including in chronic kidney disease.
