IMU Biosciences, together with UK Biobank, announced a collaboration to generate a high-dimensional, large-scale immune profiling dataset by integrating advanced flow and multiomic technologies with AI-based analysis. The program aims to produce more than 100 million immune data points per sample category from tens of thousands of participants, starting with 80,000 UK Biobank blood samples and targeting expansion to the full 500,000 cohort. The partnership selects Waters and Ultima Genomics platforms, including BD FACSDiscover cell analysis and BD Rhapsody single-cell multiomics, paired with Ultima’s UG200 sequencing platform to scale readouts. The goal is to add an immune profiling data layer to UK Biobank’s existing de-identified genomic, imaging, clinical, and lifestyle records. The dataset is designed to help researchers study how immune variation relates to disease risk, progression, treatment response, and long-term outcomes. For biotech companies, the announcement signals an acceleration of data infrastructure investments that can support predictive modeling and therapeutic target validation. From an industry standpoint, it also illustrates the increasing emphasis on standardized, platform-comparable immune measurement at biobank scale—an approach that can reduce assay variability across studies.
