The Gates Foundation will invest up to $35 million in ProFound Therapeutics to identify biomarkers, drug targets, and candidate therapies for preeclampsia and eclampsia. The initial tranche is $20 million, with support tied to expanding use of the ProFoundry platform. ProFound said it will analyze proteins expressed in placenta and serum, using its expanded proteome approach to generate an AI-enabled tool for risk and target discovery. The company described preeclampsia and eclampsia as chronically underserved conditions with limited therapeutic options. The funding adds another large-scale maternal health effort focused on protein-driven target identification and translation.
