Genprex selected Andelyn Biosciences to support manufacturing scale-up for its diabetes gene therapy program, the company said in a collaboration focused on AAV process development and clinical-stage readiness. The therapy is designed to deliver Pdx1 and MafA genes to the pancreas via the pancreatic duct using an AAV vector. Under the agreement, Andelyn will transition Genprex’s program through process optimization, scale-up, IND-enabling work, and cGMP clinical manufacturing. Andelyn’s scope includes analytical qualification, potency assay development, and drug-product manufacturing planned in a cGMP-compliant facility. Genprex’s preclinical package includes mouse data reporting sustained glucose restoration and nonhuman primate findings indicating reduced insulin requirements, higher C-peptide levels, and improved glucose tolerance, positioning the program for upcoming clinical milestones.
