GE Healthcare and DNA Script were awarded up to $26 million from HHS’ Advanced Research Projects Agency for Health (ARPA-H) under the Advanced Manufacturing Incubator for DNA program. The four-year initiative funds FLASH, a modular automated platform aimed at enabling enzymatic—rather than chemical or cell-based—DNA synthesis. DNA Script will contribute enzymatic DNA synthesis technology and its SYNTAX benchtop nucleic acid platform, while GE Healthcare will lead system development. ARPA-H frames the work as a pathway to future deployment across U.S. medical research centers, universities, and federal agencies. The award targets a practical constraint in genetic medicine—scalable, flexible DNA manufacturing—covering potential uses in personalized medicines, vaccines, and broader genetic-health technologies.
