Merck KGaA agreed to acquire Bio-Techne in a deal valued at about $11.3 billion, its biggest acquisition in more than a decade. The transaction is structured around a $73 per share cash offer and is expected to close by late 2026 or early 2027. Merck KGaA said the move will expand its presence across multi-omics, spatial biology, cell and gene therapy, and advanced research tools, adding Bio-Techne’s ProteinSimple platform and RNAscope multiplex technology. Bio-Techne also holds a stake-related pathway into Wilson Wolf cell culture devices. For biotech suppliers and translational researchers, the deal signals further consolidation around end-to-end analytical workflows spanning discovery through cell therapy manufacturing support.
