A research team led by W. Zeng and colleagues has developed a magnetic soft millirobot that can both navigate and sense environmental variables simultaneously. Utilizing a polymer matrix with embedded magnetic nanoparticles, the millirobot accomplishes complex biomimetic locomotion patterns for maneuverability in confined spaces. Its integrated flexible sensors detect pressure, temperature, and chemical signals, transmitting real-time data without compromising softness. Published in npj Flexible Electronics, this work represents a significant advance in soft robotics with implications for medical and environmental applications.
