Senticell closed an oversubscribed seed financing approaching $7 million to advance its RBC-bound nucleic acid liquid biopsy platform. The company is licensing the technology exclusively from the University of Pennsylvania and is developing assays to capture disease signals it claims are missed by plasma-based tests. Senticell says two oncology clinical studies are enrolling about 300 patients in total at Penn Medicine, including a presurgical driver mutation detection and recurrence monitoring study expected to complete in Q1 2027 and an additional trial providing RBC-based analytical support across head and neck and cervical cancers with results targeted for Q4 2026. The funding and trial design signal early push into proof-of-concept validation for RBC-based sampling, with potential implications for how liquid biopsy sensitivity is benchmarked across early detection, minimal residual disease and recurrence surveillance.
