Bifrost Biosystems signed a commercial supply agreement with Illumina to integrate Illumina sequencing-by-synthesis (SBS) chemistry into Bifrost’s optical pooled screening (OPS) platform. The reagent and workflow integration is expected to be commercially available in early 2027, according to Bifrost. The agreement provides packaged sequencing chemistry as part of Bifrost’s OPS reagent kits optimized for in situ genotyping workflows. Bifrost said the supply deal strengthens its path to commercial deployment and will support early-access collaborations with research institutions and biotech partners. Bifrost’s platform combines imaging and microfluidics with sequencing readouts to measure complex cellular phenotypes and link them to responsible genetic perturbations—an approach aimed at scaling high-content functional genomics.
