Hansa Biopharma agreed a €115 million ($133.5 million) licensing deal with SERB Pharmaceuticals to expand access to imlifidase (Idefirix) for kidney transplant desensitization across Europe and the Middle East and North Africa. Hansa will receive an upfront payment of €110 million plus a €5 million milestone tied to European Medicines Agency filing acceptance for full approval. Idefirix is designed to cleave all classes of immunoglobulin G (IgG) antibodies within hours, aiming to help highly sensitized adult kidney transplant candidates who test positive on crossmatch. The therapy has conditional EMA authorization for desensitization in this population, with a goal of reducing time on transplant waiting lists. SERB will develop and commercialize Idefirix in multiple territories including the EU, UK, Switzerland and MENA. Hansa framed the deal as strengthening its European business strategy and preparing for potential US launch later this year.
