Genedrive and Thermo Fisher struck a partnership to develop a CYP2C19 multiplex PCR pharmacogenetic test for use on Thermo Fisher’s QuantStudio 5 Dx platform. The test is designed for centralized, high-throughput labs and targets improved workflow efficiency via a lyophilized, ambient-temperature-stable format. Genedrive said the kit will support UK adoption in the NHS genomic laboratory market and intends to pursue UKCA certification by year-end. The clinical purpose is to identify poor metabolizers of clopidogrel, a key issue in stroke and transient ischemic attack care where UK NICE recommends testing. For the diagnostics market, the collaboration leverages Thermo Fisher’s installed PCR base to expand into a segment beyond Genedrive’s existing point-of-care assay, potentially accelerating uptake of PGx testing through platform consolidation.
