Neumora Therapeutics reported that its navacaprant program missed in two late-stage studies of major depressive disorder (Koastal-2 and Koastal-3), failing to achieve statistical significance on primary and key secondary endpoints. In Koastal-3, placebo performed better than navacaprant on the MADRS depression scale by week 6. With the clean sweep of trial misses, Neumora said it is discontinuing development of navacaprant and will lay off about 35% of staff to target $10 million in annual savings. The restructuring is expected to extend cash runway into the third quarter of 2027.
