Sanofi is putting more money behind T-Therapeutics’ engineered T cell receptor (TCR) platform, with Johnson & Johnson, Merck KGaA and Eli Lilly joining the funding. The UK biotech secured $133 million to advance programs spanning autoimmune diseases and cancer. The deal highlights continued corporate interest in TCR-based approaches that aim to expand the tractable immune-cell target space—particularly for diseases where conventional antibody mechanisms may not be sufficient. It also reflects pharma’s preference for partnering with or funding platform companies that can generate multiple candidates across indications. For investors and partners, the round is a sign that next-generation immune engineering remains an active category for major strategic backers despite a competitive clinical landscape.
