A research team from The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST) unveiled TEMPO, a one-pot CRISPR-based platform designed to deliver laboratory-like nucleic-acid testing sensitivity in as little as 30 minutes for at-home use. The approach uses a single reaction tube to bridge the gap between existing rapid tests and lab workflows, with results reported as comparable to professional laboratory tests. If validated beyond early development, the platform could reduce friction in infectious disease surveillance and genetic screening by moving highly sensitive nucleic acid testing closer to point-of-care or home settings.
