Opentrons Labworks raised $40 million in a Series E funding round led by Avego, with additional investment from BroadOak Capital Partners. The company said it will use the capital to scale robotics, software and data infrastructure aimed at making experiment execution faster and more automated. Opentrons said it plans to invest in AI-driven experimental execution, extend its automation capabilities, and broaden integration across the lab automation ecosystem. The company also expects improvements in protocol development through software and AI workflows. The announcement ties the platform to “autonomous science” ambitions, noting deployments of more than 11,000 robots across over 80 countries and a customer base spanning academic, diagnostic and global pharmaceutical labs. Earlier efforts mentioned Nvidia’s Isaac and Cosmos tools for generating training data, reinforcing the strategy of pairing robotics with machine learning systems that can learn from experimental outputs.
