Illumina launched a locally manufactured MiSeq i100 Series-CN sequencer for the Chinese domestic market, linking production and delivery to its China operations. The company said the instrument is functionally identical to the globally available MiSeq i100, while assembled and manufactured locally in Shanghai. The rollout comes amid regulatory and trade sensitivity: Illumina remains on China’s Unreliable Entities List, with the company saying that additional government approvals may still be required for importing complete instruments. Illumina framed the move as part of its “in China, for China” strategy and described China’s Ministry of Commerce lifting an import ban in November 2025.
