The Korea Institute of Science and Technology (KIST) team led by Dr. Min-Chul Park has engineered a high-sensitivity organic photodetector incorporating a 3PAFCN electronic blocking layer to suppress dark current, significantly improving detectivity in fog and smoke conditions. This OPD surpasses conventional silicon photodetectors by achieving higher signal-to-noise ratios in scattering environments, promising applications in autonomous vehicles, aviation safety, and smart transportation systems that require reliable vision in low-visibility situations.
