Washington University researchers developed Cirrus, an AI-driven resting state fMRI software approved by the FDA, that accelerates neurosurgical brain mapping by producing detailed functional brain maps without patient task performance. Concurrently, a novel closed-loop stimulation system demonstrated the ability to halt focal epilepsy progression while preserving memory by delivering real-time targeted electrical pulses based on early seizure detection. These technologies represent important steps toward precise, patient-friendly neurological diagnostics and therapies.
