Opentrons Labworks raised $40 million in a Series E round led by healthcare investor Avego, with participation from BroadOak Capital Partners. The company plans to scale its robotics, software and data infrastructure to support AI-driven experimental workflows. Opentrons said the funding will expand its automation capabilities, including AI-driven experimental execution and deeper integration into lab automation ecosystems. It also aims to accelerate protocol development using software and AI. The company previously announced work incorporating Nvidia’s Isaac and Cosmos AI platforms to generate training data for physical AI-enabled laboratory robotics. Opentrons reported deploying more than 11,000 robots across labs in over 80 countries, serving academic groups, diagnostic labs and pharmaceutical customers. The financing highlights continued appetite for tooling that bridges wet-lab operations and automated data generation, a key enabling layer for scalable discovery.
