IntelliGenome expanded commercial reach for its CRISPR-based TB molecular test by licensing distribution in Taiwan and South Africa. The assay is designed to detect Mycobacterium tuberculosis complex cell-free DNA from blood using CRISPR detection chemistry coupled with amplification and fluorescent readout. IntelliGenome named Yu Shing Bio-Tech as the Taiwan distributor and Ilex South Africa as the exclusive South African distributor. The company also said Jia-Yih Feng of Taipei Veterans General Hospital will lead a national multicenter clinical validation study in Taiwan to generate evidence for active TB detection. Separately, NIAID-funded research at UMBC aims to improve HIV prevention drugs by studying how leading prevention therapies work in vivo within colon tissue, where transmission risk is especially high. The award targets side-effect and mechanism understanding intended to inform next-generation prevention strategies.
