ARUP launched a public-facing infectious disease testing dashboard showing weekly test positivity and state-level heat maps for several molecular and antigen assays. The reference laboratory said the goal is to help clinicians and labs detect regional surges earlier, including for pathogens that may not trigger formal federal notifications. Initially, the dashboard covers Bordetella pertussis/parapertussis PCR, Streptococcus pneumoniae urine antigen testing, varicella-zoster virus PCR, and PCR tests for tick-borne pathogens including Babesia microti, Ehrlichia chaffeensis, and Anaplasma phagocytophilum. ARUP said the approach can also inform pretest probability and reduce inappropriate testing and treatment.
