Multiple infectious disease updates underscored persistent diagnostic and treatment friction. A pilot study in Brazil reported that the Enhanced Liver Fibrosis blood test rises with periportal fibrosis severity in schistosomiasis mansoni, suggesting a less invasive option compared with specialized imaging. In a separate community-focused result, Tanzania data showed high resistance among bacteria causing community-acquired urinary tract infections, with many isolates multidrug-resistant and a substantial fraction producing ESBL enzymes. For infectious disease programs, the combined message is that improved staging tests and surveillance are not enough without updated antimicrobial stewardship and local resistance monitoring.
