Incyte agreed to acquire Vega Therapeutics for up to $2 billion, aiming to expand its hematology pipeline with VGA039, a Phase III von Willebrand disease candidate. The deal adds a monoclonal antibody intended to modulate Protein S and potentially enable easier monthly subcutaneous prophylaxis compared with current intravenous regimens. VGA039 is being studied in the VIVID-6 Phase III trial, a global single-arm crossover study designed to evaluate safety and efficacy across all types of VWD. Vega estimates trial completion by October 2028 with data expected in early 2029. Incyte framed VGA039 as a “first-in-class” growth driver with a projected $1B+ net sales opportunity. Analysts also emphasized unmet needs in bleeding-disorder convenience and targeted hemostasis, positioning the asset as a potential successor in a space where dosing burden is a key differentiator.
