Lilly moved to expand its non-opioid pain pipeline by acquiring 4E Therapeutics, a biotech developing MNK inhibitors for pain without the central nervous system effects tied to opioids. The deal adds 4E’s lead candidate 4ET1103, which has completed Phase I safety testing and is designed to target a pathway in peripheral sensory neurons involved in acute-to-chronic pain transitions.
