Argenx agreed to buy Forte Biosciences for $2.2 billion in cash, expanding its immunology pipeline via Forte’s anti-CD122 monoclonal antibody FB102. The deal values Forte at $77 per share and follows a strategic shift as FB102 advanced after a Phase 1b facial vitiligo readout earlier this month. Argenx said FB102 delivered a 29.6% improvement on a vitiligo facial score in Phase 1b, with Phase 2 work expected to follow in celiac disease later this year. The company framed the acquisition as a pipeline-in-a-product opportunity that complements its existing antibody portfolio, including Vyvgart. The transaction ends Forte’s independent path after a difficult period beginning in 2022 when investors pushed for asset liquidation following setbacks in an earlier atopic dermatitis program.
