Boehringer Ingelheim and Envisagenics announced a multi-target oncology collaboration with potential payments of more than $1 billion. The partnership leverages Envisagenics’ AI-driven RNA splicing platform (SpliceCore) to identify tumor-specific targets, which Boehringer can then validate across multiple therapeutic modalities. Envisagenics said the structure includes upfront and ongoing research funding, option fees, development and regulatory milestones, and royalties if selected targets advance. The company characterized the deal as non-dilutive financing that supports continued investment in its proprietary pipeline. Boehringer’s option to exclusively license selected targets ties the collaboration to early scientific validation, while also aligning with the pharma’s push to diversify oncology programs with precision approaches that may reduce normal-tissue exposure. The agreement adds to a growing set of AI platform partnerships aimed at turning computational target discovery into development-ready candidates.
