A retrospective real-world study from China suggests that a PET-based metabolic score may outperform a standard risk model in diffuse large B-cell lymphoma (DLBCL). The analysis focused on whether metabolic activity captured on positron emission tomography can sharpen prognosis compared with conventional clinical stratification methods used historically. The study’s premise is straightforward for clinicians: metabolic behavior can reflect tumor aggressiveness beyond anatomic burden alone. In that context, the PET-derived framework aims to refine who is at highest risk and who may need intensified management. If validated prospectively, PET metabolic scoring could influence how treatment intensity decisions are made in routine care, potentially improving alignment between observed tumor biology and therapy escalation.
