Illumina appointed former NHGRI director Eric Green as chief medical officer, signaling a push to lean harder into clinical genomics and precision medicine. Green, who served 16 years at NHGRI, will start in February and is expected to help Illumina align its multiomics platforms with clinical workflows and payer engagement strategies. In subsequent interviews Green described his role as evangelist and strategist to integrate genomics into routine care. Illumina also announced product and partnership initiatives aimed at expanding comprehensive genomic profiling and multiomic analyses in hospital systems and regional networks.
