Illumina appointed Eric Green, former director of the National Human Genome Research Institute, as chief medical officer starting Feb. 2. The hire signals Illumina’s push to deepen clinical and precision‑medicine offerings and to accelerate adoption of comprehensive genomic profiling in care settings. Green, who recently consulted at Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta and Emory University, will focus on clinical strategy, regulatory engagement and clinical partnerships. In an interview he said the role aligns with Illumina’s ambition to lean heavily into clinical care and to advocate for integrating genomics broadly into practice.
