Illumina announced an expansion of the Alliance for Genomic Discovery by adding 50,000 genomes paired with proteomic data to the consortium dataset. DeCode Genetics will generate the proteomics using Illumina’s Protein Prep assay, and Regeneron Genetics Center will join the alliance, expanding the core database to over 312,000 whole genomes when combined with prior contributions. Pharma members such as GSK and Amgen are leading the proteomics extension, which aims to link genetic variation to protein expression and molecular mechanisms. Illumina framed the move as a step toward integrated multi‑omic target discovery for drug development and target validation at scale.
