For the first time, researchers at the Institute for Bioengineering of Catalonia and Dexeus University Hospital recorded real-time, three-dimensional images and videos of a human embryo implanting into a collagen-based matrix mimicking uterine tissue. This ex vivo model allowed precise mapping of mechanical forces exerted by embryos during implantation, a critical yet poorly understood stage of reproduction. These insights offer potential pathways to improve treatments for implantation failure and infertility.
