AbbVie reported success for lutikizumab, its investigational IL-1α/IL-1β inhibitor, in a late-stage Phase 3 trial for hidradenitis suppurativa. In the Intrepid study (1,400 patients with moderate-to-severe disease), 31.4% of participants in the weekly dosing arm achieved the primary endpoint after 16 weeks, compared with 23.4% on placebo. AbbVie said the therapy also met eight secondary endpoints, including improvements in skin pain and flare-related measures. Safety results were generally consistent with tolerability expectations, with adverse event rates nearly matching placebo. However, the report noted the data fell short of market expectations, leaving uncertainty around how the drug will compete with existing standards of care. A follow-on filing path is expected to shape near-term valuation and prescribing dynamics.
