ARPA-H awarded up to $125 million through its Genetic Medicines and Individualized Manufacturing for Everyone (GIVE) program to build a domestic, automated network for on-demand RNA-based genetic medicines. The initiative targets low-cost production with quality control at or near the point of care. The award splits across four teams building automated manufacturing platforms and one team developing automated quality control systems. Massachusetts General Hospital is set to lead an all-fluidics, single-use chip approach for continuous manufacturing and quality control; other teams will cover end-to-end unified systems, integrated DNA-to-RNA architectures with autonomous QC, and benchtop continuous-flow production with in-line characterization. ARPA-H’s approach signals a shift from single-platform prototypes toward scalable infrastructure—an execution-critical step for bringing individualized RNA therapies from R&D timelines into reliable, repeatable manufacturing capacity.
