Two new syntheses argue the gut microbiome is both a determinant and a target of mycotoxin toxicity. One perspective links microbial metabolism and barrier disruption to immune activation and antibiotic-resistance evolution, while a separate review describes aging and disease as a collapse of a diet–microbiota–host gene symbiotic network, setting up a “precision nutrition” blueprint and microbiome-targeted therapeutics.
