GSK committed £44.5 million in near-term funding as part of a hepatology collaboration with Engitix aimed at identifying targets tied to liver fibrosis regression. GSK said Engitix will use its extracellular matrix (ECM) disease models and multi-omics approach to generate data sets intended to support assay and target development. The deal gives GSK options to license outputs ranging from target candidates to associated assays, with potential milestone payments of up to £118 million tied to each target. GSK’s liver fibrosis pipeline already includes efimosfermin, and the company also pointed to its broader hepatology efforts. The collaboration adds another external target-finding effort for GSK as it seeks differentiated fibrosis-targeted medicines tied to regression biology. Engitix said its ECM platform is designed to integrate multi-omics and imaging data to decode how extracellular matrix composition influences disease processes.
