GSK, Imperial College London and the University of Oxford launched the Modelling‑Informed Medicine Centre (MiMeC) with £11 million to build digital twins of organs—lung, liver and kidney—to inform drug discovery and development. The center will combine mechanistic models, AI and experimental data and intends to share models open‑source for community use. MiMeC aims to embed organ‑level models into R&D pipelines within five years and to train a new cohort of modeling‑informed drug developers. Lead investigators include Helen Byrne, Philip Maini and Steven Niederer; GSK’s Anna Sher will anchor industrial translation. Source: institutional launch statements and program lead commentary.
