Oxford Nanopore said Norway’s MATRIX program, operated through the Norwegian Centre for Clinical Cancer Research, has started rolling out rapid nanopore sequencing for central nervous system tumor classification across the country’s public precision-diagnostics infrastructure. The rollout follows clinical evaluation of 50 CNS tumor samples using the tumor-classification assay from Oslo University Hospital, which the company says showed strong agreement versus established diagnostic methods. The next phase begins at Oslo University Hospital, Haukeland University Hospital, and St. Olavs Hospital, with plans to expand. Oxford Nanopore also said the program’s expansion will include somatic and germline variant detection, copy-number benchmarking, and multiomics capabilities such as single-cell transcriptomics and genome-wide methylation, with Oslo University Hospital preparing documentation for compliance with the EU IVDR by year-end.
