Genomics England and Lifebit announced a partnership to develop a trusted research environment for work on rare diseases and cancer. The platform will create secure, controlled digital workspaces where researchers can share sensitive genomic data and run computational analyses without moving data outside the environment. The organizations plan to design, build, and test the research environment over the next year, with an expected release sometime next year. Genomics England said the goal is to accelerate translation of discoveries into healthcare by strengthening the infrastructure for safe data access. Lifebit cited prior experience building trusted environments for research collaborations, including secure data storage and management for lung cancer studies, positioning the effort as an applied step toward accelerating genomics-to-clinic translation.
