Opentrons Labworks raised $40 million in a Series E round led by Avego, with additional investment from BroadOak Capital Partners, to expand its robotics, software, and data infrastructure. The company said it will scale AI-driven experimental execution and extend automation capabilities across robots and instruments. Opentrons plans to use the capital to accelerate protocol development through software and AI and deepen integration across lab automation ecosystems. The company also referenced its earlier use of Nvidia’s Isaac and Cosmos platforms to generate training data for physical AI-enabled laboratory robotics. The funding underlines investor demand for tools that can convert experimental workflows into usable data at scale. Opentrons said it has deployed more than 11,000 robots to laboratories across 80 countries, serving academic groups, diagnostic labs, and pharma teams.
