Breakthrough Genomics is preparing to launch an updated version of its AI-driven Virtual Geneticist genome analysis platform toward the end of summer, with a new agentic AI capability aimed at expanding usage beyond genetic testing labs. The company said the upgrade will add an interactive AI agent that can analyze and interpret genome data in the context of electronic health records and drug databases. Breakthrough framed the product update as a way to accelerate pharma drug pipeline building by helping teams connect genomic findings to drug design and target selection. CEO Laura Li said the updated system is intended to make analysis and clinical interpretation faster and easier for genetic counseling and drug development workflows. The company said roughly 20% of its revenue currently comes from pharma partnerships and it expects to grow that share to 30%–40%, while noting that Virtual Geneticist users are in the “double digits” and include hospitals, genetic counselors, and pharmaceutical companies.
