GE HealthCare agreed to acquire Sofie Biosciences for $945 million in cash to expand U.S. capacity in radiopharmaceutical manufacturing. The deal targets supply constraints for F-18 labeled PET products, which require time-sensitive production and distribution. Sofie Biosciences operates a U.S. network of 15 contract manufacturing organization (CMO) sites, and the combined footprint is expected to strengthen distribution and reduce adoption bottlenecks. GE also gains U.S. rights to FAPI-74, a pan-cancer PET tracer pipeline candidate. As radiopharmaceutical demand rises, the transaction reflects a shift toward vertical integration and scale-up partnerships to keep pace with short half-life supply chains.
