GE HealthCare agreed to acquire Sofie Biosciences for $945 million in cash to expand its U.S. manufacturing footprint in PET radiopharmaceuticals. Sofie is a contract manufacturing organization focused on F18-labeled PET products, which require tightly timed production and distribution given the short half-life. GE HealthCare said the deal will bring Sofie into its pharmaceutical diagnostics business, PDx, once the transaction closes in the first half of 2027. Sofie will also continue supplying existing customers and remain an independent manufacturing partner for its current portfolio. GE HealthCare highlighted that it will advance its pipeline of new products through Sofie and PDx’s existing CMO relationships, including gaining U.S. rights to the pan-cancer PET tracer FAPI-74 outside the U.S.
